Tex's breakfast: wheat thins & spicy mustard |
On the way to the battlefield, Wagonmaster Stu Flood told the story of the battle for Texas independence that occurred in 1836. Our bus took us around the scrubby and swampy land where the battle was fought, and to the San Jacinto Monument, that is taller than the Washington Monument.

Nearby, we toured the USS Texas Battleship, and learned of its significant contributions in both WWI and WWII.

After a wonderful lunch and delicious warm cinnamon rolls at the Monument Inn Restaurant, overlooking the harbor, we got a little damp in the rain. But we're off to downtown to see Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astro's. Tex thinks he's a star now!
Last in his busy day, a trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences and a rainforest playground of butterflies.

There were also enormous animals and birds to see, beautiful seashells, insects to eat, beautifully adorned Faberge' eggs, and a human-powered gyroscope!
At the end of such an amazing day, Tex is ready to return to the comfort of his RV, saying "Goodnight to all."
