Day 5 NASA Space Center, Houston

Awakened by the spring storms moving through east Texas, we were pleasantly surprised by the blue sky that greeted us at our 9:30 departure.  We drove our cars the 7 miles from the RV park to the NASA Space Center in order to give everyone the option of staying as long as they liked, or to depart earlier as they wished.

Upon arrival at the Space Center, we hoofed it to the trams, where everyone chose a behind-the-scenes tour of Mission Control or the Astronaut Training Facility.  Both trams gave a tour of the 1,600 acre Space Center campus, including Rocket Park. Some of us took time to take both behind-the-scenes tours.

Riding on the tram was fun but
Tex especially enjoyed seeing the big rockets.

Before long, Tex was hungry and enjoyed Space Center food in the Zero-G Diner.

In the Exhibit Plaza Tex felt really small next to the tall man!

After exploring the Starship Gallery, and seeing the moon rock, and then the Astronaut Gallery collection of spacesuits, Tex was exhausted and ready to return to the RV park for a nap.

Later in the day, after a little nap for Tex and Carole, everyone gathered for a social hour of laughter and fun.  Rose introduced us to a game in which a bright green ball was tossed about the circle.  When the ball came your way, it was your turn to share something you'd learned at the space center. Responses were both serious and humorous, and a fun way to summarize our day at Houston's NASA Space Center.
